10 Early TNA Stars Who Would've Fit In With ECW Had It Stayed Open

During its run from 1994 to 2001, ECW was considered to be the promotion that pushed the boundaries the most and had a rabid cult following. Best known for the brash storylines and willingness to perform spine-chilling maneuvers, fans were sad to see the promotion leave after the company folded.

Around the time when ECW folded, a new promotion Total Nonstop Action (TNA) was created and it emulated a lot of what fans loved about The Land of Extreme. TNA offered fans the high-flying, extreme matches that they had been missing since the departure of ECW. While TNA would go on to produce some of the biggest stars in WWE, some fans wondered which stars would have found success in other promotions like ECW.

10 The Latin American Xchange

LAX

Homicide and Hernandez were the prominent members of a dominant faction called The Latin American Xchange (LAX), who was best known for their work as a tag team. The duo worked well with each other utilizing their size and speed to overwhelm their opponents.

The team would hold multiple titles during their time together and always put on a quality match for the fans. While in TNA, the team would frequently feud with Team 3D (Dudley Boyz) and that led fans to begin to wonder what could have been if the duo ended up on ECW.

9 Chris Sabin

As a member of the original TNA promotion, Chris Sabin is a legend on the indy wrestling circuit. Sabin was a phenomenal singles star with an arsenal of moves that frequently risked his own safety and knew how to get a crowd on its feet. Having participated in the very first Ultimate X match, Sabin proved his willingness to be apart of extreme matches.

Sabin would also find success in the tag team circuit with Alex Shelly forming the team of MotorCity Machine Guns. Sabin's ability to be the main feature in any match type was a testament to his greatness. Fans can only dream of a match against Rob Van Dam for the ECW Television Title.

8 Kazarian

Kazarian or Kaz has to be one of the more underrated superstars on the professional wrestling circuit for quite some time. During his time with TNA, he was a staple in the X-Division having participated in many notable matches. With his skill set and willingness to perform high-risk maneuvers, the fans figured he would be a hit in WWE.

Although his time with WWE was underwhelming, Kazarian had always found success on the indy circuit. With his ability to captivate crowds, many believe he would have fit in just fine with ECW and their cult following.

7 Amazing Red

At first glance, many would believe that Amazing Red is going to be used like a rag doll due to his small stature, but that could be further from the truth. Amazing Red was a fan favorite he could use his small size to his advantage. Red resonated with many fans due to the fact he was seen as an underdog in many of his matches.

With his natural charisma, Red could captivate crowds that would make small arenas feel large. Red also did not shy away from the hardcore element of professional wrestling and seeing him battle it out with the likes of Stevie Richards would have been something to witness.

6 Eric Young

First rising to popularity with Team Canada, Eric Young had the ability to morph his gimmick over time to match what fans loved and at times hated. Young found massive success with TNA, holding multiple singles and tag team championships. He would often feed off the energy of the crowd and incorporate the fans into his matches.

Having notable feuds with Abyss and Kurt Angle, young showed the ability to work with stars, but also put on great matches with lesser-known stars. Young is the type of wrestler who is best when working in a smaller environment and would have fit in perfectly with the cast of characters in ECW.

5 Christopher Daniels

Christopher Daniels TNA

While either being a face or heel, Christopher Daniels had the ability to captivate a crowd whenever he was on the mic, cutting a promo, or in the ring putting on a show. Daniels is a legend in TNA by being apart of multiple notable tag teams and groups. He also has countless matches that stick out in the minds of fans.

Daniel's gimmick as a "fallen angel" was great as he was able to fully sell the idea of being an egomaniac. This gimmick could have gone further with a darker promotion and ECW would have done wonders with this. Also seeing a match between Daniels and Sabu in their prime is things dreams are made of.

4 Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett (King Of The Mountain Champion)

Maybe most known for helping create the promotion TNA, Jeff Jarrett had a successful run across multiple promotions, but his in-ring time with TNA was the best of his career. His ability to have the crowd absolutely hate him made whoever was facing him in a match the automatic fan favorite. Jarrett also partook in one of the most grueling matches in TNA history when he faced Abyss at Lethal Lockdown in 2007.

Jarrett would end up smashing a thumbtack-filled guitar over the head of Abyss, showing how ruthless he could be. This just so happened around the time WWE was revamping ECW. Thankfully he did not join the WWECW roster, but he would have been a hit on the original ECW.

3 AJ Styles

AJ Styles X Division Champion

The Phenomenal One was the face of TNA during his time with the promotion and has since had massive success with the WWE. Styles made a name for himself in the X-Division by displaying athleticism and willingness to do anything to win. He also had a mean streak about him, with the willingness to use steel chairs and other foreign objects to beat down his opponents.

While AJ can now be seen on a more mellow level with WWE, fans did love his ability to do and say whatever to advance a storyline. His wrestling style would have meshed perfectly with RVD or Sabu and fans wish they could have seen it.

2 Samoa Joe

Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe

Another person to rise to fame through the X-Division was Samoa Joe and he was a force to be reckoned with in his early days of TNA. He attacked opponents with such ferocity and was deceptively light on his feet. Joe was apart of some of the most grueling matches in TNA history.

His ability to perform athletic feats at his size would have won over any audience and he was also gifted on the mic. Joe would put his opponents through the wringer and would succeed in any promotion.

1 Abyss

Probably the most obvious entry, but Abyss embodied what ECW was all about. Abyss was an imposing figure and his gimmick fit in perfectly with the cast of characters at ECW. Although he did not cut many promos on the mic, his matches spoke for themselves.

His willingness to endure pain is something to behold and the creativity in his matches kept audiences on their feet. Abyss would have been a staple of ECW.
