10 Hilarious Resident Evil Village Memes That Make Us Laugh
The imminent release of Resident Evil Village has online fan communities hard at work drumming up new meme content. Here are some of the funniest.
The imminent release of the newest Resident Evil game: Resident Evil Village has online fan communities hard at work in the meme factories drumming up new content. Eagre to make jokes about Lady Dimitrescu's towering presence, Chris Redfield's new look and scowling demeanor, and the continued exploits of everyone's favorite guy, Ethan Winters, fans have brought some high-quality memes into the world.
Of course, much of the content circulating around the internet is not exactly safe for work, especially considering the rapid rise to fame of the one and only big vampire lady, and therefore cannot be shared here. Fortunately, these Village memes are good for a laugh and don't involve "that" kind of Dimitrescu joke.
10 The Plight Of The Silent Hill Fan
It hasn't ever been easy to be a die-hard Silent Hill fan, but things have been especially difficult since Konami's cancellation of Hideo Kojima's planned Silent Hills, alongside the delisting of the now-legendary P.T. from the PlayStation Store.
Resident Evil fans, on the other hand, are feeling pretty good. The Resident Evil 2 remake was a huge success, with remakes of more mainline titles confirmed for development, and the upcoming Resident Evil Village has taken the internet by storm. Given the similarity between the two horror franchises, it hurts a bit to look at Resident Evil's success and imagine what could have been with Silent Hill.
9 The Return Of Swole Chris
Chris Redfield has to have the most complex, but also inconsistent, exercise routine in the Resident Evil series. He went from looking like an average-sized guy in the first game to the boulder punching behemoth fans know in love in 5 and 6 and then back to an average-sized guy again in Resident Evil 7.
Whatever his routine, fans were overjoyed when early trailers for Resident Evil Village revealed that big Chris was back. And he's indeed big! Chris now looks like a bodybuilder trying to bulk up before competition season, so maybe that's something he does in his time off from the B.S.A.A.
8 The Imperiled Redfield Bloodline
An anguished Chris cries out to Leon, growing more desperate with every passing day. His demand, his only demand, is that Leon marries his sister Claire to ensure the survival of the Redfield line. Of course, fans know how Leon can be about this sort of thing, which leaves Chris no choice but to take drastic action.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Claire now has cats, one of whom is named Albert Whiskers, which means that Chris is likely trying to enlist Ethan as another marital candidate. Does this mean that he's finally given up on Leon? It seems unlikely, but anything is possible at this point.
7 It's All About Commitment
Marriages have their ups and downs, and Ethan and Mia Winters are no exception. She secretly worked on an evil bioweapons project, he tried to save her from a house full of cannibal rednecks, she chopped off his hand, and so on.
At the end of the day, though, it really is more important to be happy than to be right, and it's good to see that Ethan and Mia have overcome their differences in the prologue to Resident Evil Village (that is, for a moment). Given all they've been through, fans have every reason to be confident that Ethan will resist the charms of the monstrous, bloodsucking Lady Dimitrescu.
6 Chris And Boulders: A Love Story
Without a doubt, the most important character arc in the Resident Evil franchise is Chris Redfield's complex and ever-evolving relationship with exceptionally large rocks. In 2002's Resident Evil, Chris and the boulder share an explicitly antagonistic relationship - it only seems to want to trigger an immediate game over by flattening him.
In Resident Evil 5, however, Chris is the master of rocks everywhere, having gained the ability to punch stones multiple times his size into exploding active volcanoes. Following this arc, it only seems logical that in Village, Chris will have totally subordinated boulders, perhaps using them as weapons to dispatch threats when guns fail.
5 Not-So Regular Ethan Winters
While he was initially designed as an everyman to counterbalance the near-superhuman capabilities of Resident Evil's more established cast, Resident Evil 7 protagonist, Ethan Winters, quickly made a name for himself as not only the only RE protagonist to be able to maintain a stable relationship, but as a competent guy in his own right.
Clearly, Chris Redfield thinks highly enough of Ethan's capabilities to disrupt his peaceful home life and get him directly involved in the events of Village (whether Ethan wants to or not). While it's not clear exactly what Chris' intentions are, the fact that he's getting Ethan involved in all of this, instead of Leon, has to mean something.
4 The World's Most Dangerous Google Search
Many Resident Evil fans have likely learned the hard way not to look up information about the new game within range of their coworkers or friends, largely because of a certain tall lady.
What might have once been an innocuous search for news, gameplay, or fan art has become a perilous ordeal on account of the outright deluge of "enthusiastic" artwork starring Lady Dimitrescu.
3 Showdown Of The Century
After Chris kicked in Ethan's door and gunned down his wife in the early trailers for Village, fans were catapulted into a whirlwind of speculation as to what could have motivated the beloved RE protagonist to do something like this. Maybe that wasn't really Mia, maybe Leon had said something to upset Chris beforehand, or maybe Chris is going to be a surprise antagonist in Village.
If so, then fans certainly have a fight to look forward to. Who will come out on top? Will it be the hero of the B.S.A.A., the man who's punched out nearly every horror known to mankind, Chris Redfield? Or will it be that guy who basically just hangs out at home: Ethan Winters? Only time will tell.
2 Will You Still Like Me When My Looks Fade?
Not to be the bearer of bad news for new Resident Evil fans or anything, but everything mutates, and that's a fact. While she looks remarkably youthful for her age, the likelihood that Lady Dimitrescu will morph into a vile mass of twisted flesh and bone at some point comes in at around 98.75%.
Given this, one has to wonder how committed her army of internet fans really are. Are their affections more than just passing attraction? If they're really so ready to be decapitated by a giant woman, then surely it shouldn't matter what she looks like when she does it ... right?
1 He's Done Well For Himself
In Resident Evil 4, the enigmatic merchant had a lot of good things on sale, but to what end? Did he have a family to support? Why was he always so ready to buy Leon's jewels? And where was he sourcing his stock from, anyway? It's not like many other people in Resident Evil 4 have access to firearms.
With the arrival of new Village trailers, at least one of these questions has been answered (if this is the same merchant, that is). The only plausible answer is that he used his newfound wealth to buy up all the food in the Spanish countryside, and he really earned it -- the guy worked exceptionally hard in RE4.
