5 Best Matches From Super ShowDown So Far (& The 5 Worst)

Super ShowDown 2020 -- the third event in the chronology -- is set to take place on Feb. 27, 2020, and it promises to be a memorable show.

The first Super ShowDown event occurred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia on Oct. 6, 2018. Eight months later, WWE held the 2019 Super ShowDown event at King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The first two Super ShowDown events offered plenty of good, but also some lackluster and forgettable matches. As we prepare for lucky Super ShowDown No. 3, let's take a look at the five best and five worst moments from the chronology thus far.

10 Best: A.J. Style Vs. Samoa Joe (2018)

A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe, two of the greatest legends in TNA history, rekindled their feud for WWE in 2018. "The Phenomenal One" was pitted against Joe in a WWE Championship Match at Super ShowDown 2018, and the fans in Melbourne got their money's worth right here.

The two superstars put on an absolute clinic in their No Countout/No Disqualification match that went on for nearly 24 minutes. When all was said and done, Styles forced Joe to submit via the Calf Crusher, thus retaining his title.

9 Worst: Charlotte Flair Vs. Becky Lynch (2018)

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch formed one of the WWE's best feuds throughout 2018, which began after the latter's failed "heel turn" at SummerSlam. That led to Lynch becoming the new main event babyface of the women's division, and it set the stage for a hyped-up match at Super ShowDown 2018.

Lynch and "The Queen" have put on plenty of grade-A matches together, but this one -- a SmackDown Women's Championship bout -- was lackluster at best. The match ended in a DQ victory for Charlotte when Lynch hit her with the championship belt, which meant the title couldn't change hands.

Not the most exciting way to end an intriguing title match between two arch-rivals.

8 Best: Kofi Kingston Vs. Dolph Ziggler (2019)

Kofi Kingston was only two months into his first WWE Championship reign, and the perennial fan favorite continued his illustrious run with a match against Dolph Ziggler at Super ShowDown 2019.

The match wasn't that long as far as WWE Championship bouts go (only 10:15), but both superstars displayed strong pace and in-ring work. Kingston was able to retain the title after scoring the pinfall victory over Ziggler, adding even more momentum during his title reign.

7 Worst: Triple H vs. Randy Orton (2019)

This match wasn't terrible by any means, but why in the world did WWE drag it on and on? There was no special stipulation whatsoever, and we've seen Triple H vs. Randy Orton countless times over the years.

The match, which featured two former Evolution members, painfully dragged on slowly, lasting a whopping 25:45 before Orton emerged victorious. This was also far and away the longest match on the card, lasting more than twice as long as every bout excluding the battle royal.

6 Best: Ronda Rousey & Bella Twins Vs. Riott Squad (2018)

Ronda Rousey was only six months into her WWE tenure, so there was plenty of hype around this six-woman tag team match. Rousey teamed up with Nikki and Brie Bella against The Riott Squad, and it was among the top matches on the 2018 Super ShowDown card.

It was exciting for fans to see the Bella Twins back in the ring, given their extremely limited wrestling schedules in recent years. Rousey was able to lead her team to victory after she got Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan to tap out at the same time.

5 Worst: Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz (2018)

Daniel Bryan and The Miz met at Super ShowDown 2018, with the winner earning a WWE Championship match against AJ Styles. Given the history between The Miz and Bryan (who can forget this memorable confrontation?), there were reasonably strong expectations for this.

But the match was a quick win for Bryan, who managed to score the pinfall in just 2:25. If you uttered "That's It?" you weren't alone. There was no reason for the match to be that short, considering the Triple H-Undertaker bout lasted a whopping 27:35.

4 Best: Mansoor Wins Battle Royal (2019)

A 51-man battle royal was one of the main matches for the 2019 Super ShowDown event. WWE did the right thing by booking pretty much all full-time wrestlers -- which featured a good number of NXT talents.

23-year-old superstar Mansoor, who was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scored the victory when he eliminated Elias. It was a wonderful moment for the young star, and Mansoor's win led to roaring cheers and ovations from the crowd.

3 Worst: Triple H vs. The Undertaker

When Undertaker defeated Triple H at WrestleMania XXVIII, it was supposed to mark "the end of an era." They delivered a classic that night, and it felt like the perfect end to one of the most historic rivalries in WWE history.

But sure enough, WWE couldn't resist the opportunity to pit them against each other "one last time." The match dragged on and on, lasting nearly a half-hour before Triple H finally put away "The Deadman."

At least the whole "end of an era" thing lasted six and a half years. Right?

2 Best: The Shield Wins Six-Man Tag Match (2018)

Nobody could have predicted it at the time, but Super ShowDown 2018 would mark one of the final matches for The Shield. It was also one of their first matches back together since Dean Ambrose missed eight months due to a torn triceps injury.

As such, it's hard not to feel fond and have special memories when you look back on their six-man tag match against Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, and Braun Strowman. The six superstars put on a remarkable performance in the ring together, and as we all expected, The Shield came away victorious.

Roman Reigns would have to step away soon after to deal with his Leukemia diagnosis, and Ambrose wound up leaving WWE at the end of April 2019. Super ShowDown 2018 marked one of the more memorable moments between the iconic trio.

1 Worst: Goldberg vs. Undertaker (2019)

For the first time in history, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg squared off one-on-one with another legend in Undertaker. There was always going to be concern about the quality of the match, given their ages and the fact they were both only part-time performers.

But the match wound up being far worse than most could have expected. Goldberg was reportedly concussed after running headfirst into the ring post. He and Undertaker also botched several moves during the bout. There was an instance where Goldberg dropped Undertaker on top of himself when seemingly attempting a Tombstone Piledriver.

Undertaker was barely able to perform the Chokeslam finisher on Goldberg when he mercilessly pinned him to put an end to the forgettable match.
