They've each had legendary careers in the business and are two of the best to have ever done it, and there are many similarities between them that fans have noticed. Yet at the same time, there are just as many differences that allow each of them to feel unique in their own way.
10 Similar: Sense Of Humor
While both Triple H and Shawn Michaels have been very serious throughout their careers, putting together some brilliant storylines, they also have no problem in being a little silly. That has always been the case, but it is particularly true during their time in D-Generation X where they have happily pushed other people's buttons.
The duo have similar comedy styles as they like to hit one-liners at other people's expense, or being as over the top as possible with different skits. Their similar sense of comedy has worked out well for them because it has meant DX ended up being so much fun.
9 Different: Hall Of Fame
Both Triple H and Shawn Michaels are WWE Hall Of Famers, but there is one distinct difference between them in that sense. That's because it is only the Heartbreak Kid who has been inducted as a singles act, with Triple H's induction having taken place as part of D-Generation X.

That makes Michaels a two-time Hall Of Famer, while fans are still patiently awaiting Triple H to be inducted as a solo act. However, considering the fact he now has booking power it remains to be seen if that will happen.
8 Similar: Real-Life Controversies
Triple H and Shawn Michaels are two legendary figures who are now in positions of power backstage in WWE, however, that doesn't mean that either of them have been perfect employees over the years. Both of them have been embroiled in real-life controversies at times, particularly in the case of Michaels.
Of course, they were both part of the curtain call, while they also played a role in the Montreal Screwjob. Meanwhile, Michaels caused a lot of problems with his partying days and Triple H got people talking by marrying the boss' daughter, with both proving they're willing to push buttons.
7 Different: In-Ring Style
Shawn Michaels and Triple H are both fantastic professional wrestlers, but they have vastly different in-ring styles. It's one of the reasons they were so fun as a tag team because they both brought something completely different to the table.
Triple H tended to work a much slower, more methodical style where he would take his time to slowly build things. Meanwhile, Michaels would come out like a rocket with a faster pace and more high-flying moves, which was slightly more exciting.
6 Similar: Over The Top Sells
While they might have different in-ring styles, the two of them did have similar abilities when it came to how they'd sell things. They're two excellent sellers who did everything possible to try to make their opponents look good, and that did include some over-the-top moments.
Michaels would often launch himself around the ring to put over other people's moves, and Triple H could bust out an over-the-top sell as well. His would often be similar to Ric Flair, standing and stalling before a big flop, which often got a pop.
5 Different: One Company Man
When fans think about Triple H it is WWE that comes to mind due to how loyal and important he has been for the company over the years. However, out of the two men it is actually Shawn Michaels who has been the one company man, having only worked for WWE when it comes to top-level televised promotions.

That isn't the case for Triple H, as he technically started out working for WCW, making his name with WWE's rival promotion. It's something a lot of people forget about the Game, but he hasn't always been a WWE guy.
4 Similar: Storytelling Ability
Wrestling is all about telling stories, and some people do it better than others. Triple H and Shawn Michaels are just so happy to be masters at it from an in-ring perspective as they both do everything that it takes to tell a detailed story through their matches.
Rather than just allowing the promos in the build-up to tell a story and then the match to be something that just pops a crowd, they take their time to get fans behind them with matches that build which is why they're so enjoyable to watch.
3 Different: Tag Team Star
Shawn Michaels may be traditionally seen as a great singles wrestler more than anything else, but he did have several partners over the years. He spent a lot of time in the tag team division outside of just working with Triple H during their runs as D-Generation X, which wasn't the case for Hunter.
Michaels teamed with Kevin Nash when he was his bodyguard, and he also had a long run working alongside Marty Jannetty. They were an iconic tag team that fans loved, which was never really something Triple H experienced.
2 Similar: Helping Young Talent
Throughout their in-ring careers, both Triple H and Shawn Michaels were famous for being driven, focused, and happy to use politics to enhance their runs. However, in retirement the two men have proven to love helping out young talent as much as possible, taking the time to teach and develop the next generation.

1 Different: Singles Championship Success
Shawn Michaels is a name that will often come up in conversations regarding who the greatest wrestler of all time is, and rightfully so as his match quality was sublime. However, when it comes down to titles it is Triple H who stands tall as the most dominant of the two men.
The Game is one of the most highly decorated wrestlers in WWE history, having spent the vast majority of his career with a title around his waist. While Michaels certainly did well in his own right, this record does bring a big difference between them.
