8 Wrestlers Who Competed At WrestleMania 38 That Won't Be At WrestleMania 39
WrestleMania 38 was an exciting two-night event that brought a lot of excitement to the fans with some memorable moments taking place. Whether it be the surprise appearances or the excellent in-ring action there was a lot of great work that helped to make it one of the best 'Manias in recent memory.

Certain wrestlers from that show are nailed on to be part of the event again this year, whether that be Cody Rhodes, Charlotte Flair, or Roman Reigns. However, other people will absolutely not be competing, whether it is because they're no longer employed or because of injury.
8 Sasha Banks
One of the most obvious people that will be missing from WrestleMania 39 is Sasha Banks, who no longer works for the company. She opted to walk away from WWE due to creative differences, and that is something that was never able to be resolved as she ultimately left WWE completely.
Banks has recently appeared at Wrestle Kingdom for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and her focus will be on competing in Japan moving forward for NJPW and STARDOM. This means that WrestleMania 39 is going to be missing the Legit Boss.
7 Naomi
Much like Banks, Naomi is another name that is going to be missing from WrestleMania 39. She was one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions alongside Banks when they decided to walk out from the company during an episode of Raw due to creative problems, and much like Banks, she hasn't returned.

While Naomi is still officially under a contract and that could lead to her making a return down the line at some point, it seems like that isn't going to be the plan heading into WrestleMania as all the top women's storylines are coming into place already.
6 Johnny Knoxville
Johnny Knoxville was involved in one of the most unique and entertaining matches in WrestleMania history last year as he competed against Sami Zayn. The Jackass star put together an amazing performance on the night, taking some big bumps and creating plenty himself.
However, that match was very much a one-off situation that isn't expected to be repeated. While fans would likely be happy to see Knoxville back, WWE will probably tap into a different celebrity this time around.
5 Pat McAfee
Pat McAfee is another celebrity that got the chance to compete at WrestleMania 38, with his match being against Austin Theory. The two had a fun encounter, and the former NFL star once again proved that he is a gifted performer. He is also very popular with the WWE Universe, which is why the company likes to book him.
However, he is no longer around every week due to commitments that he has elsewhere, and that means that WWE may not want to put him into a match. While he won't be wrestling on the show, McAfee could end up making an appearance at the commentary table, much like he did at the Royal Rumble.
4 Steve Austin
Steve Austin made a surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 to compete in the main event of night one against Kevin Owens. It was an incredible moment and the Hall of Famer put together a great performance, showcasing that he hadn't lost it despite the fact he had been out of the ring for so long.

However, fans shouldn't expect that to become a regular situation, as it is extremely unlikely that Austin will be competing inside the ring. Despite that, WWE did reportedly try to get Austin again this year for a match against either Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns, but that is something he apparently turned down. Even though he isn't expected to be wrestling, there's always a chance that Austin appears in some form.
3 Vince McMahon
Vince McMahon is someone that most fans forget competed at WrestleMania 38, only popping up for a short match against Pat McAfee. This was a terrible encounter, with McMahon being at a stage in his life where he shouldn't have been competing at the biggest show of the year.
However, this did lead to him being hit with a Stunner from Steve Austin, which is one of the funniest sells of all time. But considering the controversy surrounding him right now it is extremely unlikely that he will be making an on-screen appearance at the upcoming premium live event.
2 Gable Steveson
Gable Steveson didn't have an official match at WrestleMania 38, but he did get in the ring to hit a move on Chad Gable, getting him some exposure in front of the wrestling audience. However, even though WWE seemed to have plans for him from that point, the former Olympian still hasn't made his official in-ring debut for the company.
It seems that he isn't quite ready to make that leap, even though there was a lot of hype surrounding his initial signing. Because of that, he's unlikely to be part of the show again this year, even in the capacity that he was at WrestleMania 38.
1 Randy Orton
One of the biggest blows to WWE heading into WrestleMania is the fact that Randy Orton is unlikely to be appearing at the show. Last year he was part of a triple threat tag team match on night two as he and Matt Riddle successfully defended the Raw Tag Team Championships.
Sadly, Orton has been out of action since May of last year with a serious back injury, and there were initially fears that he might have to retire. While that doesn't appear to be the case anymore, there is still no word on when he is expected to be back competing inside the ring.
