9 Lowest Rated WrestleManias, According To IMDb

Since 1985, WrestleMania has become the showpiece event that WWE has on its calendar. It is the biggest event of the year and fans worldwide travel to watch the spectacle. WrestleMania has grown from being hosted in arenas to stadiums regularly, and it has been a two-night event since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whilst, WrestleMania is unquestionably the biggest event, it doesn't automatically mean that it's going to be the best pay-per-view of the year. Unfortunately, some WrestleManias have been stinkers with a lack of star power and the wrong matches headlining the card causing the show to be catastrophic. Nevertheless, IMDb is an online website where shows are rated by fans and critics out of a score of 10, and the following WrestleManias were the worst according to IMDB ratings.

9 WrestleMania 29 - 6.7

Cena v The Rock WrestleMania 29 Cropped

The main attraction of WrestleMania 29 was the rematch between The Rock and John Cena for the WWE Championship in the main event with Cena regaining the WWE Title from Rock. Other marquee matches on the show, including The Undertaker going 21-0 at WrestleMania by defeating CM Punk, and Triple H preserved his career by beating Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred match.

The World Heavyweight Championship was defended at WrestleMania for the final time with Alberto Del Rio defeating Jack Swagger to retain his title. The Shield marked their WrestleMania debut with a win in a six-man tag team match, and another notable result on the card included Fandango upsetting Chris Jericho.

8 WrestleMania 27 - 6.7

John Cena v The Miz WrestleMania 27 Cropped

WrestleMania 27 was massively disappointing and it featured Edge defeating Alberto Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship in his final match for nine years. It also featured Jerry Lawler's first WrestleMania bout and he lost to Michael Cole by disqualification with Steve Austin as the special guest referee.

Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio had a solid match as did Randy Orton and CM Punk. The match of the night was The Undertaker and Triple H's collision course, and The Miz outlasted John Cena in the main event in a successful WWE Title defense albeit with some help from The Rock.

7 WrestleMania 1 - 6.7

Hulk Hogan & Mr T v Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff WrestleMania Cropped

The inaugural WrestleMania took place in the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden in 1985, and there was a plethora of celebrities on the card. WrestleMania in the modern era is filled with long matches, but the matches at WrestleMania didn't go too overly long.

New champions were crowned with The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff taking home the WWE World Tag Team Championship, and Wendi Richter won the WWE Women's Championship. The main attraction of the night was the WWE Champion Hulk Hogan and Mr. T seeing off Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper with Muhammad Ali and Pat Patterson as the special guest referees with fans going home happy.

6 WrestleMania 34 - 6.6

Alexa Bliss v Nia Jax WrestleMania 34 Cropped

WrestleMania 34 had the potential to become one of the greatest WrestleManias in WWE history as the card was jam-packed with several big names on the card. However, the card peaked too early with the first half of the show miles better.

Seth Rollins won the Intercontinental Championship in a triple threat match, and Charlotte Flair battled past Asuka to retain the SmackDown Women's Championship ending her unbeaten streak in the process. Other notable results included Ronda Rousey making her WWE debut alongside Kurt Angle and they defeated Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, The Undertaker saw off John Cena in a matter of seconds, and both AJ Styles retained the WWE Championship and Brock Lesnar beating Roman Reigns in an underwhelming main event to remain as Universal Champion.

5 WrestleMania 32 - 6.3

Triple H v Roman Reigns WrestleMania 32 Cropped

The main event between Roman Reigns and Triple H at WrestleMania 32 for the WWE Championship stunk out of the joint. The Big Dog captured his third WWE Championship and he was on the receiving end of a chorus of boos. One of the highlights of the show was Zack Ryder capturing the Intercontinental Championship in a seven-way ladder match.

Charlotte Flair became the inaugural WWE Women's Champion after she beat Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks in a triple threat match. Moreover, the marquee matches featuring Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose in a Street Fight, and The Undertaker and Shane McMahon's Hell in a Cell match failed to live up to the expectations.

4 WrestleMania 2 - 6.1

Randy Savage v George Steele WrestleMania 2 Cropped

WrestleMania 2 was a historical one for several reasons as it was the first WrestleMania to emanate from three different venues. Randy Savage and George Steele's Intercontinental Championship match and Mr. T and Roddy Piper's boxing match headlined the Nassau Coliseum part of the show.

The British Bulldogs captured the WWE World Tag Team Championship in the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois. However, the main attraction of WrestleMania 2 was the WWE Championship match between Hulk Hogan and King Kong Bundy in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena with the Hulkster retaining the WWE Championship.

3 WrestleMania 36 - 6

Goldberg v Braun Strowman WrestleMania 36 Cropped

WrestleMania 36 looked fantastic on paper but unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic ruined the show with the show moving from the Raymond James Stadium to an empty Performance Center. Nevertheless, the show was spread over two nights, and there were still some remarkable matches on the show. Night One's main results included Becky Lynch retaining the Raw Women's Championship against Shayna Baszler, Kevin Owens beating Seth Rollins, and Braun Strowman dethroning Goldberg for the Universal Championship. In the main event, The Undertaker wrestled his final match and he beat AJ Styles in a Boneyard match.

Night Two was another decent offering with Charlotte Flair defeating Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women's Championship, and Edge marked his return to WrestleMania by beating Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match. Bayley retained the SmackDown Women's Championship, Bray Wyatt saw off John Cena in a Firefly Fun House match, and Drew McIntyre ended Brock Lesnar's WWE Championship reign.

2 WrestleMania 9 - 5.8

Bret Hart v Yokozuna WrestleMania 9 Cropped

WrestleMania 9 was the first WrestleMania to take place outdoors at Caesars Palace, but it was one of the worst WrestleManias in history. Tatanka and Shawn Michaels' Intercontinental Championship match, and The Steiner Brothers and The Headshrinkers' tag team match were the best matches of the night.

The Undertaker and Giant Gonzalez's clash was slow and methodical as expected, and Yokozuna defeated Bret Hart for the WWE Championship. However, his joy was short-lived as Hogan beat Yokozuna in an impromptu WWE Championship match.

1 WrestleMania 11 - 5.7

Jeff Jarrett v Razor Ramon WrestleMania 11 Cropped

1995 was one of the worst years for WWE and it showed with a poor WrestleMania 11. Diesel and Shawn Michaels' WWE Championship match failed to go on last which was the wrong decision as NFL's Lawrence Taylor, and the Million Dollar Corporation's Bam Bam Bigelow headlined the show.

Bret Hart and Bob Backlund's "I Quit" match was underwhelming with Roddy Piper as the special guest referee. The Undertaker remained unbeaten at WrestleMania after he battled past King Kong Bundy, and Jeff Jarrett and Razor Ramon clashed in an Intercontinental Championship match with Double J retaining the gold. Ultimately, Owen Hart unveiled Yokozuna as his mystery partner and they defeated the Smoking Gunns for the WWE World Tag Team Championship.
