Backstage Reason Seth Rollins Doesn't Have A WrestleMania Opponent Yet
It might seem strange that a huge star like Seth Rollins doesn't have an opponent for WrestleMania yet, but there's a solid reason for WWE's decision to hold off naming the competitor who will stand across from him in the ring. In an effort to work a storyline out of something WWE doesn't quite have solidified, the company is keeping open their options in case what they want to do falls through.
What WWE was hoping to lock down, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, is to have Cody Rhodes wrestle Seth Rollins. Unfortunately, because Cody's status with WWE is, as of now, unknown, WWE hasn't been able to announce Rollins' opponent, and they need to keep themselves open to shifting gears at the last moment should Cody and WWE not come to an agreement. For now, the company is still planning things out like Cody will be a part of the show, but they can't proceed as though that is a 100 percent certainty.
Update: During a recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that as of this past Friday, Rhodes vs. Rollins was still listed internally for WrestleMania. He added, "Cody may know [and] Vince may know, but it’s not like they were advertising it backstage or telling people or even creative."
Rollins will definitely be used on the card and the storyline where he's distraught after losing his tag team title match with Kevin Owens is being done so that WWE can go in a variety of directions. Rollins' reaction on Monday to the loss allows him and WWE to be so open to changes that this is the safest way to proceed with just a few weeks to go until the big show.

When Will WWE Make Up Its Mind?
The real question will be how long WWE waits before going another direction? If Cody and WWE don't come to terms soon, one has to imagine the company will quickly need to pivot and put something else together for one of the biggest stars on the WWE roster. And, if Cody isn't part of the plans, is there an opponent on the roster that can take his place and still be considered a marquee match-up?
