Ben Addresses ‘Wonky’ Eye Following Viewer Speculation

Ben Rathbun might have just shocked viewers by actually meeting Mahogany Roca on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days, but the American man revealed that many fans are more focused on the appearance of his eyes. Ben, who works as a model but also is the head of a charity, has received increasingly negative comments from viewers for claiming that God sent a woman half his age into his life for romance. However, Ben revealed that it is his “wonky” eye that 90 Day Fiancé viewers are most curious about, which led to Ben addressing his appearance on social media.
Father-of-four Ben escaped life in a restrictive church and left his wife of two decades to discover himself outside of his restrictive religion. The former pastor has been blasted by viewers for his naive behavior, as he remains focused on finding love in seemingly the wrong places. Ben admitted to already having been catfished once, though he proclaimed his love for mysterious Peruvian woman Mahogany despite her refusing to video call him. Mahogany told Ben not to visit her, but he booked a three-week trip to Peru anyway. Though she didn’t show up at the airport, Mahogany shocked viewers when she revealed that she was a real person and showed up to meet Ben at dinner. While Mahogany does not appear to return Ben’s affections, he still declared his love for the young woman.
Following repeated questioning from viewers, Ben took to his Instagram to address the situation with his eye, as one of his eyes sometimes appears more closed than the other. Ben shared a photo of himself and captioned it, "With everything that is going on in my life, and everything that I’m going through, the MOST important thing to people right now is my wonky eye." He said that although he sometimes tries to hide or downplay the appearance of his eye, he has "never cared" about it and actually likes it. "Now Normally, if someone has some weird thing about them that they’re born with, or they can’t help, it’s off-limits — but not wonky eyes I guess. So fine - I’ll address it because my eye actually has a really interesting and pretty dramatic story. It all started several years ago …," Ben concluded his post in a joking manner.
Though he has been subject to criticism for pursuing Mahogany, Ben found support in his comments. "You look awesome… so you have a lazy eye… big deal❤️," one commenter wrote. Many women praised Ben for his looks and physique. "Still handsome with a wonky eye. People can be so vain. Keep being you !" another fan wrote. While many franchise fans believe that Ben primarily earns money as a model and thus based off of his appearance, he has clarified that his real job is a director at the Michigan Lupus Foundation. Therefore, it appears that Ben is less focused on his appearance than some viewers initially thought.
Before The 90 Days viewers were stunned to discover that Mahogany was a real person who just enjoyed liberally editing her photos. However, viewers couldn’t help but voice how awkward Ben and Mahogany’s first in-person meeting felt. This led to franchise fans accusing Mahogany of being an actress, while some critics went as far as to say she wasn’t even Peruvian. To add further intrigue to their story, Ben and Mahogany were recently spotted by a fan holding hands in a mall in Peru. That means that their seemingly implausible romance on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days might be still going strong to the shock of viewers.
