Big E Says He'd Love For WWE To Open Forbidden Door To AEW
Different wrestlers will have different opinions on whether or not the "forbidden door" being opened is a good thing for the professional wrestling business. Some will argue that getting a chance to wrestle across different promotions and expand the talent pool you can work with is great. Others believe that working exclusively for one company while under contract is the right way to do business. The current WWE Champion seems to fall somewhere in the middle as is intrigued by the idea.
While speaking in an interview with Robbie Fox of My Mom’s Basement and Barstool Sports, Big E said, “The idea of [working relationship]…I don’t know if it’s ever feasible, but is that forbidden door going to be open here, between us and them, imagine that, that would be incredible." He added, "Something like that I think would be really interesting."
For fans, the idea of Big E versus someone like Orange Cassidy or MJF would be tremendous. A one-on-one between the promotion's respective champions would have tremendous appeal to the WWE Universe. That said, and Big E acknowledges as much, it's hard to know how to book those matches.
WWE certainly wouldn't want Hangman Adam Page pinning his world champion and it's not likely AEW would want Big E making Page look bad. There's the question of which company's pay-per-view the match would be on and which live events each star would appear at. There are so many intricate details that would need to be worked out, it seems like a stretch to imagine AEW and WWE would ever find a way to meet in the middle.

Big E Has Lots Of Friends In AEW
One thing Big E did say was that it's not his thing to get into a war of words with talent from AEW and avoid the back-and-forth that comes with the competition. He doesn't want to burn his friends or bridges even if he knows why the fans love the competitive spirit of the talents who engage in that sort of talk on social media.
His comments in that regard seem to provide evidence that he's got a lot of stars from the AEW on his mind if he ever got the chance to work with any of them.
