Bron Breakker Retains Despite Dolph Ziggler's Best Efforts
Bron Breakker is still your NXT Champion! Breakker defeated Santos Escobar in the main event of this week's special Vengeance Day edition of NXT 2.0 on SyFy.
It all went down at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday, February 15. After weeks of attempting to get under the champ's asking, Escobar finally got his shot at the title. He put up a good fight and was actually in control of his less-experienced opponent for a good portion of the match ... but Breakker was just too tough, which was all the more impressive when you consider that he was outnumbered.
On top of Escobar and his Legado Del Fantasma cronies, Breakker also had to deal with Dolph Ziggler, who showed up to the PC to send a message to Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa, with whom he has been feuding since last week's edition of NXT 2.0. Ziggler hit Breakker with a superkick while the ref was distracted, but it was to no avail as Breakker kicked out at 2.5 after Escobar swooped in with a cover.
Breakker hit Escobar with his Gorilla Press/Power Slam combo for the 1-2-3, retaining the gold in the process.
