CM Punk & AJ Lee's Relationship Told In Photos, Through The Years
CM Punk and AJ Lee have remained one of the most recognizable couples in the professional wrestling industry, even though they were out of the spotlight for much of the past decade. They both made highly anticipated returns in 2021 and will look to quickly regain their position as two of the top competitors in the industry.

The couple began dating in 2013 and got married the following year, shortly after Punk departed from WWE. They were only together for a short period on-screen, and they prefer keeping much of their relationship behind closed doors. However, they do not always avoid the camera, and their relationship has been captured in pictures throughout the years.
6 They Had Great On-Screen Chemistry
CM Punk and AJ Lee were involved in a love triangle with Lee's on-screen ex-boyfriend Daniel Bryan, who was also Punk's rival, in 2012. The angle helped Lee reach stardom, as it was one of the most exciting storylines of the year, and it showed that she had great chemistry with The Straight Edge Superstar.
Their on-screen romance may have been brief, but they continued to feud throughout much of her tenure as the RAW General Manager, as she felt scorned by both Bryan and Punk. It is interesting to wonder whether the seeds of their relationship got planted during the storyline, as this was the first instance in which they spent a lot of time together, and they might have realized they were compatible with one another.
5 Their Mutual Love Of Sports Brought Them Together
Mae Young was seemingly the only female competitor that wasn't romantically involved with Punk at some point. Many of these relationships fizzled out after a few months, but the previous on-screen chemistry between AJ Lee (who was no stranger to wrestler romance herself) and Punk also flowed into their personal lives when they began seeing each other in 2013.

Their first known public appearance together was when they got caught on camera during the seventh inning of a 2013 Chicago Cubs game. They were outed as a couple at the game, as many believed Punk was dating Lita at the time. They have made several appearances at Chicago sporting events over the years and have seemingly bonded over their mutual love of sports.
4 They Quickly Became A Power Couple
They made frequent appearances at public events after they began dating. Due to their status as two of the most recognizable figures in the wrestling world, cameras would often follow the young couple, which offered fans a glimpse into their personal lives.
There is no telling how much their legacies would have been affected if they remained with WWE throughout their relationship. Nevertheless, it was clear through these public appearances that the pair had a strong bond, and they remained relevant after their time with the company had ended. Punk's childhood idol was Randy Savage while Lee worshipped Miss Elizabeth, and they could have had a similar impact on this generation if they had remained active.
3 Their Special Day
The couple tied the knot in front of their closest family and friends on June 13, 2014. Punk had been away from the company for nearly six months while Lee was granted time off after her record-breaking Diva's Championship reign ended when she lost to a debuting Paige just two months before their big day. In what had to have been an act of pettiness, WWE also chose to send Punk his termination letter on their wedding day.

While this may have spoiled the day for some, it is conceivable that Punk's resentment towards the company could have caused him to take the shot in stride, only adding more fuel to his fire. His choice to return to the ring last year with the rising power AEW, which is the first company that looks like it can knock WWE off their thrown since the Monday Night Wars, was a shot across the bow at the company.
2 They Have Always Stuck Together
CM Punk's issues with WWE could have potentially created a wedge in the couple's relationship if they were not as close as they were, considering Lee remained with the company for over a year after his departure. Nevertheless, they weathered the storm and remained a unit throughout the drama resulting from his controversial exit.
Lee later admitted to feeling like she was in the middle of the unfortunate situation, but she continued to wrestle for another year after his exit. She provided insight on the injury that played a role in his resentment towards the company when she took the stand during Punk's defamation trial against WWE and their doctor Chris Amann.
1 A Normal Home Life
Most couples in the wrestling industry have struggled to maintain a healthy work/life balance, and many have suffered as a result. Nevertheless, Lee and Punk have managed to keep much of their personal lives to themselves, which has surely been healthy for their relationship.
The couple is currently living in Chicago, Illinois, where they raise their dog, Larry Talbot. They both returned to the ring late last year and will look to regain their status as two of the most exciting competitors in the industry.
