Jake Atlas Is No Longer A Member Of AEW's Roster [Report]

AEW star Jake Atlas was reportedly arrested and subsequently charged with domestic violence following an altercation with his partner in Orlando on May 23. At the time, Atlas was an inactive (due to injury) member of the AEW roster, but in the aftermath of his arrest, it seems that's no longer the case.

According to Fightful Select, Atlas was actually on a per-appearance deal with AEW. AEW paused that deal in the wake of Atlas' arrest and is unlikely to resume the arrangement any time soon. Meaning that Jake Atlas is a free agent, which explains why he was removed from the promotion's website.

Atlas was released by WWE on August 6th along with several of his now-former NXT colleagues including Bronson Reed, Asher Hale, Tyler Rust, Giant Zanjeer, Zechariah Smith, referee Stephon Smith, Kona Reeves, and Ari Sterling. He made his AEW debut at a set of Dark/Dark Elevation tapings at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida, back in January. In what was his first match since September 2021, the 26-year-old defeated Serpentico and earned a contract offer from AEW boss Tony Khan.

Atlas sustained a torn ACL while wrestling Adam Cole on the January 6 edition of AEW Rampage on TNT and has been out of action since.

An Orlando Police Department report (per PW Insider) states that, on the evening of May 23, the former NXT Superstar was charged with misdemeanor battery (domestic assault) on a person he has been dating for a number of years. According to the report, the alleged incident occurred when Atlas became jealous that his partner was showing giving more attention to a mutual female friend.
