Joel Embiid Does Not Like Rumors That He’s Unhappy Since Jimmy Butler Was Added To 76ers

After rumors stated star center Joel Embiid was unhappy in Philadelphia since the arrival of Jimmy Butler, Embiid has come out to say it's untrue.

Clearly, Jimmy Butler is not the easiest NBA player to get along with. He worked his way out of the Timberwolves organization after issues with teammates and coaches and while there doesn't appear to be any heat between Butler and his new teammates in Philadelphia, there is already news that one Sixers player hasn't loved the backseat he's taken in the games since Butler's arrival.

If you're a basketball fan, you've probably heard the news that Joel Embiid voiced his displeasure with the way he’s being deployed by the 76ers. On Friday, as the Sixers rolled past the Detroit Pistons, Emdiid was being "rested". Emibiid said before the game it wasn't so much that he was tired but was struggling in his new role. Meanwhile, Butler scored 38 points and Coach Brett Brown called it the best win of the season under the circumstances.Immediately, those comments and Butler's performance drew attention, with the idea that Embiid was jealous or unhappy since Butler's arrival. Embiid got word of those rumors and wasn't happy.[caption align="alignnone" width="1400"] via the inquirer[/caption]NBA writer Michael K-B is reporting, "Have been told that Embiid is upset with the report circulating that he is unhappy with his role since the #sixers added Jimmy Butler. Embiid is very happy with the addition of Butler and it is just a matter of the two getting more comfortable together on the floor." Embiid went on to say that he understands the importance of Butler in the lineup if the Sixers are going to be considered a real threat for the NBA Championship and it's simply a matter of adjusting to one another.

What This Means

Despite what Embiid says, there's likely a little jealousy in the air. Since coming to Philly, Butler has been one of, if not the go-to guy with the Sixers hitting game-winning shots and putting up huge numbers. Meanwhile, Embiid (the former star of the team) has been much less noticeable. This could easily become a situation where both men can't co-exist.As for coach Brown, forget next season. He needs to find a way to get these two guys on the same page if the Sixers want to compete this season.
