Highlights

  • Cena hints at WrestleMania appearance, leaving fans eager for his potential involvement in the event.
  • Speculation rises on Cena's role at WrestleMania 40, with fans hoping for a significant presence.
  • WWE fans anticipate Cena's potential appearance at WrestleMania 40, adding to the excitement for the anniversary event.

During an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, John Cena appeared as a guest and discussed his role in the Barbie film, his recently-released movie Ricky Staniky on Amazon Prime, and the chances he'll show up at this year's WrestleMania. For WWE fans, the latter was the most interesting piece of his conversation with Fallon, especially after he hinted that he might be in attendance.

Discussing a photo he posted on his Instagram account, which some fans took to be a hint of a WrestleMania 40 clash with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Cena didn't make any promises, but he said he knew exactly where and when WrestleMania was taking place and that he wasn't previously engaged in another project. The fans didn't love that he wouldn't reveal whether he'd be there or not, but he didn't want to make a promise he couldn't deliver on.

That said, when he tried to get the live audience back on his side, he noted:

"It’s April 6 in Philadelphia. I know exactly where it is. I’m free that day. I’m just saying. I’m just saying to you guys out there. Now, the energy’s coming back a little bit. The suspense is building."

You can see his interaction with the crowd and Fallon in the video below. Eventually, he and the host found a way to dodge the question by using his popular "You Can't See Me" hand waive to say, "Maybe you won't see me there!"

If Cena were to show up at WrestleMania 40, it likely wouldn't be for a match. The more logical plan would be to have him simply make an appearance on one of the two nights and either interact in a promo with someone or have a short physical altercation with someone. His last match in WWE took place at Crown Jewel where he was decimated by Solo Sikoa. It's possible he could play a role, trying to ensure Sikoa doesn't get involved in the action between The Rock and Cody Rhodes.

Cena At WrestleMania 40 Feels Like It Has To Happen

This show is too big not include one of the company's biggest stars. It's the 40th anniversary of WWE's flagship premium live event and if Cena is available, it would be a crime not to find a way to include him. His hint on Fallon seems to suggest there's already a plan in the works.
