Kevin Owens Explains Why He Never Wants To Be Intercontinental Champion Again
Owen Hart continues to inspire a lot of wrestlers despite passing away more than 20 years ago. One of WWE's current stars who might have pulled the most inspiration from the career of Hart is Kevin Owens. KO loved Hart so much that he named his son after him, and in turn his choice to change his surname from Steen to Owens when he signed with WWE by the name of his oldest child.
KO Doesn't Want The Title
Turns out Owens and Hart share something else in common, and it's the reason why KO has admitted he'd be perfectly okay if he were to never win the Intercontinental Title again. Not only have Hart and Owens both been IC Champion on two occasions, but when the lengths of their reigns are added together, you discover they have had the title for the same amount of time too. 132 days each.

“I’d love to win the Intercontinental Title back, but I also don’t want to win it back because I don’t want to break that similarity,” Owens admitted on Love Wrestling (H/T to Fightful for the transcription). “I want to share that with Owen, so it’s a real conflicting feeling, but it’s really cool to have that, for sure.”
Not In The IC Title Picture Right Now
The good news for Owens is right now, he's not particularly close to looking like he will be the one who dethrones Gunther. While KO and Sami Zayn have been crossing paths with Imperium quite a lot lately, that's because the group has been trying to win Owens and Zayn's Tag Titles. The honor of being the next person to try and beat Gunther appears to have fallen at the feet of Drew McIntyre.
There's naturally a chance KO eventually leaves the record he shares with Owens behind though, of course. He's known as The Prizefighter after all, so it only makes sense that he one day battles for the IC Title again. For now, and probably for quite a while, he gets to share a neat little record with one of his heroes and the beloved wrestler his son is named after.
