Pokémon Legends: Arceus - How To Find (& Catch) Origin Forme Giratina
Pokémon Legends: Arceus players can find Giratina in Turnback Cave, and they can use a Griseous Core to change between Origin and Altered Formes.
In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players will not be able to find any Formes of the Legendary Pokémon Giratina until they reach the post-game content. Before players will have a chance to encounter this Ghost-Dragon type Pokémon, they will need to complete Mission 26: Seeking the Remaining Plates. Only after clearing that mission can players interact with Professor Laventon to obtain Request 91: On the Trail of Giratina.
Once players have unlocked Request 91, they should travel to the Cobalt Coastlands. An easy way to travel around the Hisui region is using a flying mount in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Once players arrive at the Coastlands, they should continue to fly using Braviary to Spring Path, which can be found at the top left corner of the map. From there, players should use their Sneasler to climb up the mountain near Turnback Cave, which can be found in the middle of a spring. Once players arrive at the peak of the mountain, they should drop down and enter the visible cave opening for Turnback Cave.
Once players enter Turnback Cave, they will immediately face a level 70 Origin Forme Giratina in battle. For the best chance at a successful catch, players should try and reduce Giratina's health into at least the yellow, if not red, on its HP meter. Because it is a Ghost-Dragon type, Giratina is weak to Ghost, Dark, Fairy, Ice, or Dragon-type moves. Once the player has successfully reduced Giratina's HP, they should throw an Ultra Ball in Pokémon Legends: Arceus to catch it. Additionally, moves like Sleep or Paralyze may be beneficial to further increase the player's chance of success. If Giratina breaks free from the Ultra Ball, players should repeat these steps until it is successfully caught. Players should be prepared with an abundance of Ultra Balls and healing potions before entering the cave to face Giratina.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus: Origin and Altered Forme Giratina
Players hoping to transform their Origin Forme Giratina into its Altered Forme will need to obtain the Griseous Core. Obtaining this item will happen automatically, as players will immediately be given the core after catching Origin Forme Giratina in Turnback Cave. After the fight battle, a cutscene will trigger showing the protagonist in Pokémon Legends: Arceus picking up a fallen Griseous Core. Players can use the Core in the menu and give it to Giratina, which allows players to switch back and forth between the two Formes, Origin and Altered.
Players should note that changing Giratina's Forme will both change the appearance of the Legendary Pokémon and its stats. While both Formes share movesets and typing, their Attack and Defense stats are switched around. Origin Forme has a higher attack, while Altered Forme has a higher defense. Visually, Origin Forme Giratina is floating and has long ghostly black claws behind its head. Altered Forme stands firmly on six legs and has two wings, which appear to be made of the same matter as the claws in Origin Forme. Both Formes are grey with red and black details and gold rings near its head. Both Formes of Giratina are large and imposing, and they make for exciting content after beating the game in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
