Randy Orton Return Teased For Tonight's SmackDown

While it probably won't close with an appearance from The Undertaker like NXT did this week, tonight's SmackDown promises to be a big one. Roman Reigns is back, appearing for the first time since he beat Jey Uso at SummerSlam, and there's a lot The Tribal Chief needs to address. Most notably Bloodline members Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa losing a tag team match to LA Knight and John Cena last weekend at Fastlane.

Orton's Voices

Not a good look for the group as it seems likely it will be one of those two who will challenge Reigns next for the Undisputed Title, or at least that's how it seemed until Thursday. Wanting to get the word out that Reigns will be on SmackDown this Friday, WWE shared a post on social media further confirming the appearance. The tweet was quoted by Rev Theory, the band responsible for Randy Orton's entrance music, who replied with "Orton Voices".

Doubling down, Rev Theory also quoted tweeted Kim Orton, The Viper's wife, shortly after, posting the exact same thing. Those two tweets, but particularly the Reigns one, have some fans convinced the band knows something we don't. That after a year away working through injuries, Orton is finally ready to come back. The band's Voices theme will get a big reaction from fans whenever it hits due to the length of Orton's absence, so doing it while Reigns is in the ring would be a huge deal.

Teasing Orton's Return

This is the second time in four months that Rev Theory has got WWE fans thinking Orton might be nearing a return. In June, the band released a remixed version of his theme music, but that naturally led to nothing. It's entirely possible we hear that new version of the theme tonight on SmackDown if Rev Theory's latest tease is anything to go by. Orton has been training at the Performance Center recently which strongly suggests a return is imminent.

There was a time earlier this year when it seemed possible Orton might never wrestle again. The 14-time World Champion's Hall of Fame father revealed doctors had told his son not to wrestle again, adding that he assumed Orton would make up his own mind. As much as fans might want to see Knight wrestle Reigns at Crown Jewel, I think Orton getting a shot is more likely if he really is ready. He feels like a more fitting World Title challenger for an event in Saudi Arabia.
