Ric Flair Strips Down To Underwear, Launches Shoe In Crowd, & Elbow Drops Suit

There have been some great promo cutters in wrestling over the years, but none of them hold a candle to the incomparable Ric Flair.

Being a wrestler is so much more than having what it takes between the ropes once the bell rings. Yes, we all love watching a great wrestling match between two stars with an abundance of technical ability, but it can't be that alone, not at the very top level. You also have to be able to talk up your matches. To be able to hold the crowd in the palm of your hand when you have a mic in front of your face.

As with in-ring ability, the skill level when it comes to cutting promos obviously varies. Some of the best in the business include Dusty Rhodes, Stone Cold, and yes we're going to say it, John Cena. There is one man in the business who surpasses even those legends when on the mic, and that man is Ric Flair.

When it comes to selecting a classic Flair promo, our only problem with getting to watch them all over again is that we could only choose one for this Remember When. Eventually, we opted for the one below. It took place during an episode of WCW Nitro on December 28, 1998. In case you didn't know, The Nature Boy had been defeated by Eric Bischoff the night before at Starrcade.

As you might have guessed, Flair was not happy about losing to someone who was effectively a non-wrestler. However, his reaction to that loss is something no one could have predicted. Naitch proceeds to strip down to nothing but his underwear, all while cutting an incredibly entertaining promo with Gene Okerlund holding the mic. It ends with the 16 time World Champion handcuffing himself to the ropes and waiting for Bischoff.

For those of you who don't know what happened and don't want spoilers, look away now. Come on though people, it was 20 years ago! If you haven't seen it by now it's your own fault. Flair did get his rematch with Bischoff and managed to avenge the loss from the night before. However, Bischoff will always be able to say he beat Flair at Starrcade, an iconic event that was basically named after The Nature Boy.
