Scott Steiner's Real Life Hatred Of Triple H, Explained
Quick Links
In the fall of 2002, Scott Steiner, as Big Poppa Pump, made his WWE return at MSG. Despite being a WCW guy, fans cheered his arrival and after suplexing everyone in the ring, he announced that he was back in the WWE. Steiner was well past his physical prime and had a whole host of injuries that greatly diminished his in-ring work, but he was still uniquely charismatic and well-capable of being a superstar in WWE.
There was this one problem. Triple H, an informal part of WWE management and creative, did not really like Scott Steiner, and the dislike was mutual. Soon after getting drafted to RAW, Steiner became the number one contender for Triple H’s World Heavyweight Championship and the two feuded for a few months, but it was terrible all the way through.

Scott Steiner's First Major Feud With Triple H Was Beyond Bad
The buildup featured Steiner and Triple H in an arm wrestling contest, a push-up competition, and a literal pose down and the match was just outright awful. Triple H and Scott Steiner did not have an inkling of chemistry with each other and both matches bombed. Backstage, it was even worse.
As soon as Scott Steiner made his WWE debut, management wanted him to take a steroid test. Big Poppa Pump agreed, but on the condition that Triple H too would undertake the same test. WWE stopped asking him to take the steroid test after this, but this incident speaks volumes about the tense relationship between Scott Steiner and Triple H.
Scott Steiner Trashed Triple H Repeatedly After Leaving WWE
Steiner did not last very long in WWE. After his abysmal championship feud against Triple H, Big Poppa Pump took part in a miserable angle involving Test and Stacy Keibler, and after that he was released from his contract. After his WWE exit, Steiner went all out bashing the promotion, and of course, his prime target was Triple H.
In an interview with the Baltimore Sun from 2008, Steiner attributed Triple H’s success in the wrestling business to his marriage with Stephanie McMahon. He also claimed that Kurt Angle thought similarly of Triple H and that The Game tried to sabotage Angle’s initial push in the WWE. Similarly, Steiner has claimed that Triple H tried to sabotage him as well. In the same interview, Steiner had quite a lot to say about Ric Flair (someone he also hates) and Shawn Michaels, best buddy to Helmsley.

Scott has taken aim at Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and WWE numerous of times but has Triple H ever commented on Steiner? Yes he has. The aforementioned interview where Steiner buried Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair was brought up to Triple H during an interview in 2008. When asked what he thought of Steiner and his comments, Triple H said it was normal for people to talk about him as it kept their name in the limelight. He did express a little bit of anger at Steiner claiming that Ric Flair was not respected by most people, calling Steiner crazy if he actually believed something like that.
Scott Steiner And Triple H Later Made Amends When The Steiner Brothers Were Inducted
From his exit in 2004, and all the way to 2022, Steiner wasted no chance when it came to lambasting Triple H but more recently, Steiner and Triple H have buried the hatchet. As crazy as it sounds, Steiner has mellowed out over the years and in 2022, Scott Steiner and his brother, Rick, accepted the Hall of Fame induction from WWE. For the first time since 2004, Scott showed up on WWE television and he looked happy to be there.
Triple H and Scott Steiner actually stood side by side for a photo during the Hall of Fame event. That’s something you’d never expect to see, but it’s a good thing that both wrestling legends are cool with each other. After getting inducted into the Hall of Fame, reports came out that Steiner no longer has heat with Triple H or WWE.
Back in 2003, Triple H and Scott Steiner definitely did not get along. Triple H buried and humiliated nearly every former WCW star and Steiner was no different. Fortunately, the two are on decent terms. They will never ever be best of friends but at least they are cordial with each other now.
