11 The Shield Vs. New Age Outlaws & Kane (WWE WrestleMania 30)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 6/10
Storytelling | 1.25/2.5 |
|---|---|
Technical Ability | 1.75/2.5 |
Character Work/Psychology | 1.5/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 1.5/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 2 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: N/A
The Shield looked strong here as they squashed the team of Kane and New Age Outlaws, but lasting under 3 minutes, there was a clear ceiling on how good this match could be. There wasn’t too much story aside from getting The Shield’s babyface run up and running, and there wasn’t enough time for every member of the match to shine in terms of character. It was still effective and a decent addition to the card, but it could have arguably been longer.
10 The Shield Vs. Big Show, Randy Orton & Sheamus (WWE WrestleMania 29)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7/10
Storytelling | 1.5/2.5 |
|---|---|
Technical Ability | 2.25/2.5 |
Character Work/Psychology | 1.5/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 1.75/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 2.5 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: 5.59
The storyline of this match wasn’t especially strong, with Big Show’s latest heel turn leading to fans sharing a collective groan, but there was enough talent in this match for it to still be entertaining and open WrestleMania in a good way. The action was chaotic and fast-paced, much like many of The Shield’s matches during their first year in WWE. This gets rated a little harshly, but compared to most of the matches at WrestleMania 29, this was pretty good.
9 Seth Rollins Vs. Kevin Owens (WWE WrestleMania 36 Night One)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7/10
Storytelling | 2.25/2.5 |
|---|---|
Technical Ability | 2.25/2.5 |
Character Work/Psychology | 2/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 0.5/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: N/A
- Cagematch.net Rating: 7.42
The lack of a crowd due to the pandemic really did affect this one, and whilst their character work did somewhat make for it, the match makes for a tough rewatch. Either way, Owens and Rollins put on a strong in-ring showing that had good technical work, intensity, and a show-stealing spot as Owens jumped off the WrestleMania sign at ringside. The false finish played into the storytelling of the match pretty well too, but the glaring issues came with the venue and the pandemic.
8 Seth Rollins Vs. Triple H (WWE WrestleMania 33)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7.25/10
Storytelling | 2/2.5 |
|---|---|
Technical Ability | 2/2.5 |
Character Work/Psychology | 1.5/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 1.75/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 3.5 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: 7.02
The pacing of this match was very slow, the selling of Rollins’ leg was inconsistent, and the crowd went in and out of being interested. The storytelling between Rollins and Triple H was still pretty good, with the intensity and hatred felt throughout, but the match felt over choreographed at times and the spots took too long to get to. It was fine for what it was, but given who was involved, it should’ve been better.
7 Seth Rollins Vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE WrestleMania 35)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7.25/10
Storytelling | 1.75/2.5 |
|---|---|
Technical Ability | 1.5/2.5 |
Character Work/Psychology | 1.75/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 2.25/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 3.5 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: N/A
Considering this match was about 2 minutes long, Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar opened WrestleMania with a bang. The pre-match brawling added to the intensity of the bout, and seeing Rollins quickly put away Lesnar was a shock but a welcome one.
Hulk Hogan's WrestleMania Matches, Definitively Ranked Worst To Best
WrestleMania probably wouldn't exist without Hulkamania. Hulk Hogan competed in some of the biggest 'Mania matches of all time. What is his best?It must be said that it would have been better in an extended match, perhaps for even two or three more minutes, but what they put forth was still fun.
6 Seth Rollins Vs. Cesaro (WWE WrestleMania 37 Night One)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7.75/10
Storytelling | 1.75/2.5 |
|---|---|
Technical Ability | 2.25/2.5 |
Character Work/Psychology | 1.75/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 2/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 4 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: 8.18
This match was all about Cesaro overcoming the odds and getting a huge WrestleMania win, and the crowd enjoyed his spells of dominance and showmanship throughout the match. Rollins was a great dance partner as they put together some great sequences and thrilling moves. Aside from the great wrestling, there wasn’t a whole load to shout about during the match in terms of top tier character work or storytelling, but it did its job and was one of the best matches of WrestleMania weekend.
5 Seth Rollins Vs. Randy Orton (WWE WrestleMania 31)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 7.75/10
Storytelling | 1.75/2.5 |
|---|---|

Character Work/Psychology | 1.75/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 2/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 4 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: 7.65
This match didn’t kick into a final gear, but everything about the clash was polished to perfection in terms of sequences, move execution, and more. Rollins & Orton showcased great chemistry in front of a good crowd, seamlessly transitioning, countering, and hitting moves with crisp precision. Rollins’ cowardly heel work was entertaining, and of course the stunning Curb Stomp/RKO counter was sensational.
4 Seth Rollins Vs. The Miz Vs. Finn Balor (WWE WrestleMania 34)

Storytelling | 2/2.5 |
|---|---|

This avoided all the typical triple threat tropes, ensuring that everyone was involved as much as possible in the action. It was a great way to open up the show, getting the crowd pumped up. Rollins scored the win after a wild sprint finish, Curb Stomping both men and leaving with the title.
3 Seth Rollins Vs. Cody Rhodes (WWE WrestleMania 38 Night One)
Overall Rating From TheSportster: 8/10
Storytelling | 1.5/2.5 |
|---|---|

Character Work/Psychology | 2/2.5 |
Crowd Reaction | 2.5/2.5 |
- Dave Meltzer Rating: 4.5 Stars
- Cagematch.net Rating: 8.61
Cody Rhodes’ return match to WWE ensured a super hot crowd who elevated this a great deal, giving it a feeling of a big fight. The action was sloppy in places and the storytelling wasn’t all too prominent, but for the most part this was a tremendous match in which Rollins and Rhodes showcased top tier talent and chemistry. This match though was all about Rhodes and his reintroduction to WWE after several years away.

Although Seth Rollins wasn’t a part of 95% of this match, his inclusion when cashing in the Money in the Bank contract added a great deal to this, and ensured one of the most memorable WrestleMania moments in history. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns had a stiff, intense, and hot match prior to Rollins cashing in, so everything just came together wonderfully by the end, as Rollins stole the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
