The 10 Best Matches In AEW Dynamite History, According To Cagematch.net

Despite not even being three years old at this point, All Elite Wrestling has already developed a reputation for delivering some of the best in-ring content wrestling fans can enjoy. And they don’t just save it for the pay-per-views, either — their weekly flagship show, AEW Dynamite, has put on a number of tremendous matches since the program’s debut in October of 2019.

10 The Young Bucks & FTR vs. Lucha Brothers & The Butcher and The Blade (AEW Dynamite - Fyter Fest Night 2, 7/8/2020) - 8.51

The Young Bucks & FTR vs. Lucha Brothers & The Butcher and The Blade (AEW Dynamite - Fyter Fest Night 2, 7/8/2020)

If there’s one thing AEW fans can generally count on, it’s for a multi-man tag team match to deliver on the excitement, especially if wrestlers like the Young Bucks and the Lucha Brothers are involved. These bouts tend to be ridiculously fast-paced sprints with everyone doing their moves and pulling off some wild maneuvers. This match features The Bucks teaming with their soon-to-be rivals FTR against the Lucha Brothers and The Butcher and The Blade, and Rey Fenix’s Canadian Destroyer out of the ring and onto the other wrestlers is an all-time great spot.

9 Cody vs. Mr. Brodie Lee (AEW Dynamite, 10/7/2020) - 8.57

Cody vs Brodie Lee Cropped

In August of 2020, Brodie Lee got a surprisingly fast and decisive win over Cody Rhodes to capture the TNT Championship, leading Rhodes to resort to his ultimate weapon: Southern wrasslin’ violence. In this rematch, the two collided in a Dog Collar Match, as made famous by Greg Valentine and Roddy Piper. This brutal brawl wasn’t just a standout match that brought old school violence back to wrestling television — it’s also a little bittersweet, as this was the last match for Brodie Lee, who passed away later that year.

8 The Young Bucks vs. Death Triangle (AEW Dynamite, 4/14/2021) - 8.68

The Young Bucks vs. Death Triangle (AEW Dynamite, 4/14/2021)

This mid-April 2021 Dynamite delivered a fantastic opener with The Young Bucks defending their World Tag Team Titles against the Death Triangle configuration of Rey Fenix and PAC. Nick and Matt Jackson do incredible heel work here against Death Triangle, delivering a 23-minute effort full of expectedly great athleticism.

7 Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. vs. Thunder Rosa (AEW Dynamite - St. Patrick’s Day Slam, 3/17/2021) - 8.75

Britt-Baker-Thunder-Rosa

One of the biggest criticisms of AEW thus far has been the promotion’s handling of its women’s division, which for a long time failed to get the same love or attention as the other divisions — or even main event a Dynamite. That changed with the St. Patrick’s Day Slam episode of Dynamite in 2021, as Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa waged all-out war on one another in an awesomely violent Lights Out Match that had the wrestling world buzzing.

6 Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix (AEW Dynamite - New Year’s Smash Night 1, 1/6/2021) - 8.83

Kenny Omega Vs Rey Fenix

While Rey Fenix is a proven force in the tag team scene with his Lucha Brother, Penta El Zero M, he’s also a tremendous performer as a singles competitor. This was well proven in Lucha Underground, but AEW fans need to look no further than his New Year’s Smash main event challenge against Kenny Omega for the AEW World Title. A match of the year contender to start off the new year, this bout features an amazing performance from both stars, with too many mind-blowing spots to even name.

5 Adam Page & Kenny Omega vs. Lucha Brothers (AEW Dynamite, 2/19/2020) - 8.97

Kenny Omega and Adam Page vs. Penta and Rey Fenix

The Lucha Brothers have been a staple of the tag team division since AEW kicked off, having reached the finals in the tournament to crown inaugural champions and later taking part in a three-way title match weeks later. But their first traditional two-on-two tag title match came in February of 2020, as Penta and Fenix took on the champs Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page. Omega and Page were an unlikely tag team, but proved themselves as a duo with acclaimed matches like this one.

4 Best Friends vs. The Inner Circle (AEW Dynamite, 9/16/2020) - 8.68

AEW's Parking Lot Fight: Best Friends vs. Santana and Ortiz

Both teams have a proven track record outside of AEW, but within the promotion it was easy to write off Best Friends’ Chuck Taylor and Trent as comedic goofballs, and The Inner Circle’s Santana and Ortiz as mere henchmen. But the duos proved to any doubters that they should be taken seriously with this Parking Lot Fight.

RELATED: AEW: Every Member Of The Inner Circle, Ranked From Worst To BestWhile AEW has certainly had its fair share of ridiculous matches like the Stadium Stampede, this street fight style match was anything but silly. Instead, it was a satisfyingly chaotic brawl on the part of both teams, with some really nasty looking bumps onto cars and other violent delights.

3 Adam Page & The Dark Order vs. The Inner Circle (AEW Dynamite - A Celebration Of Mr. Brodie Lee's Life, 12/30/2020) - 9.19

Erick Redbeard and The Inner Circle

The wrestling world was shocked with the sudden death of Brodie Lee, and AEW opted to devote an entire episode of Dynamite to his memory, resulting in an emotional experience for his friends, family, fans, and contemporaries alike. It was a well-received episode, with the best match on the show being Adam Page teaming with Alex Reynolds and John Silver against the Inner Circle team of MJF, Santana, and Ortiz. It’s a well wrestled match with a lot of drama and catharsis, not to mention a surprise run-in from Erick Redbeard, formerly Lee’s WWE tag partner Erick Rowan.

2 Kenny Omega vs. PAC (AEW Dynamite, 2/26/2020) - 9.20

Kenny Omega vs. PAC

Following a brutal feud with Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega rekindled his rivalry with “The Bastard” PAC, who was equally capable of high-flying feats and nasty submissions, and who defeated Omega months earlier at All Out. After earning one victory a piece, the rubber match ended up being a 30-minute Iron Man Match on Dynamite, which went into overtime with Omega winning two to one. It was awesome stuff, and a great way to get Kenny Omega back on the right track after some high-profile losses.

1 Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega (AEW Dynamite - Grand Slam, 9/22/2021) - 9.52

Bryan Danielson vs. Kenny Omega

Bryan Danielson’s jump from WWE to AEW felt like a major coup for the company, and fans clamored for the various dream matches that could ensue from The American Dragon being All Elite. At the top of the list was certainly Danielson vs. AEW’s top star, Kenny Omega, and the actual match — opening the Grand Slam episode of Dynamite at Arthur Ashe Stadium — did not disappoint. The two wrestled a dramatic, exciting match for the AEW World Title, going all the way to a 30-minute time limit draw, which felt like the perfect finish for them, especially because it promised an even bigger rematch.
