The First 10 Raw Women's Title Matches, Ranked From Worst To Best

The Raw Women's Championship is one of the most coveted titles on the Raw roster. For sure, the title has had its ups and downs since its introduction in 2016.

At WrestleMania 32, Lita unveiled the spanking brand new WWE Women's Championship, which would later be renamed the Raw Women's Championship. It was a significant moment in the Women's Evolution with the new Women's Title, replacing the Divas Championship. Furthermore,  the Raw Women's Championship was renamed after SummerSlam 2016, when the Raw Women's Title's counterpart, the SmackDown Women's Title was created.

Nevertheless, some of the very best women in the business have held the Raw Women's Championship and made the title feel prestigious in its short lineage. Nonetheless, the first 10 televised Raw Women's Title matches were a mixed bag of brilliance and dire.

10 Charlotte Vs. Natalya (Raw 4/11/16)

Charlotte v Nattie

On the April 11, 2016, edition of Monday Night Raw, Charlotte defended her newly won WWE Women's Championship against Natalya. Charlotte and Natalya had magnificent chemistry together, and they clashed in some incredible matches over the Divas Championship earlier on in the year.

Both are submission specialists, and they locked each other in debilitating submission holds. The action went back and forth, and Natalya was closing in on the title when she locked Charlotte in the Sharpshooter. Fighting and clawing, Charlotte tapped out but her father Ric intervened by pulling the referee out of the ring. Natalya prevailed, but Charlotte retained the title by disqualification.

9 Charlotte Vs. Paige (Raw 6/20/16)

Charlotte v Paige

Charlotte continued her stranglehold on the Women's Championship, and she collided with her former Team PCB ally Paige on the June 20, 2016, edition of Raw. Unfortunately, this match was underwhelming and did not click the way it should have.

Paige kicked out of Charlotte's moonsault, and Dana Brooke who was in Charlotte's corner proved to be a deciding factor. Paige hit her patented RamPaige on Charlotte but Brooke put Charlotte's foot on the rope. Ultimately, The Queen kept her title intact with her Natural Selection finishing maneuver.

8 Sasha Banks Vs. Charlotte (SummerSlam 2016)

Charlotte v Sasha

This was the final title match under the WWE Women's Championship name, with Sasha Banks defending the title for the first time against her arch-rival Charlotte on the big stage of SummerSlam 2016. Surprisingly, this match failed to live up to the expectations with both women falling way short of their high standards.

Charlotte botched a slam from the top rope, which saw Sasha crash horrifically by landing on her head. Nevertheless, Sasha countered Natural Selection with her Bank Statement, but Charlotte managed to execute Natural Selection with Banks managing to kick out. The Boss went for her Bank Statement once again, which proved to be costly as Charlotte expertly reversed it and regained the WWE Women's Championship.

7 Charlotte Vs. Natalya (Payback 2016)

Charlotte v Natalya Payback 2016

Inevitably, Natalya would get another shot at Charlotte's Women's Championship after Charlotte got disqualified three weeks before their clash at Payback 2016. Ric Flair was in his daughter's corner, and Bret Hart accompanied his niece Natalya to ringside.

This was a brilliant encounter, which had the fans heavily invested in proceedings. Charlotte cut a frustrated figure as Natalya did not stay down after taking Charlotte's Natural Selection. Unfortunately, Natalya failed to wrestle the championship away from Charlotte after another poor attempt of "The Montreal Screwjob" happened when the referee called for the bell with Charlotte locking Natalya in the Sharpshooter, despite Natalya not tapping out.

6 Charlotte Vs. Natalya (Extreme Rules 2016)

Charlotte v Natalya

The final installment in Charlotte and Natalya's series came at Extreme Rules 2016 when Natalya was hoping to finally end her five-year drought as Women's Champion. There was an added caveat to this submission match at Extreme Rules as Ric Flair was barred from ringside.

Charlotte repeatedly worked on Natalya's leg with a variety of submission holds and a Boston crab with Natalya screaming in pain. Nonetheless, Natalya recovered, and she put Charlotte in a Sharpshooter. With Naitch banned, his music played, and it was Dana Brooke dressed up as Ric in disguise. Natalya took her eye off the ball, and Charlotte capitalized by retaining her championship with Figure Eight.

5 Charlotte Vs. Bayley Vs. Sasha Banks (Clash Of Champions 2016)

Clash Of Champions 2016 saw the Raw Women's Championship defended for the first time under its new name. The Queen had her hands full against both Bayley and Sasha Banks in an underrated triple threat match.

This was another high-quality match between all three women, who spearheaded the Women's Evolution. Flair did a masterful job as a heel Women's Champion as she dominated large portions of this encounter. It was a valiant effort from both Sasha and Bayley, but The Queen continued to reign supreme.

4 Sasha Banks Vs. Charlotte (Hell In A Cell 2016)

Charlotte v Sasha HIAC 2016

History was made at Hell in a Cell 2016 as Sasha Banks and Charlotte had the honor of becoming the first two women to step inside Hell in a Cell, and more importantly the first two females to main event a WWE pay-per-view. The Boss was in her second reign as Raw Women's Champion, and she was hoping to have more success by defending the title against Charlotte.

Whilst it was not the greatest Hell in a Cell match, both women pulled out all of the stops to make this bout memorable. They took a vast amount of bumps with neither woman holding back. Unfortunately for Sasha, there was more heartbreak as she failed to successfully defend a title yet again, with Charlotte improving her record on pay-per-view to 14-0 which is astounding.

3 Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks (Raw 10/3/16)

Charlotte v Sasha Raw 2016

Charlotte and Sasha continued their rivalry by main eventing Raw on the October 3rd, 2016 edition of Raw. They were leaps and bounds above the rest of the female locker room, and they deserved their spot to close out the show.

The Queen remained aggressive throughout this clash, putting Sasha on the backfoot. However, Charlotte performed an outstanding twisting corkscrew moonsault onto Sasha on the outside. Closing in on victory, Charlotte executed her patented Natural Selection and she cut a bemused figure when Sasha kicked out. Getting the recognition, they deserved, fans chanted "This is Awesome" with The Boss becoming a two-time Raw Women's Champion after forcing Charlotte to submit to the Bank Statement, which came out of nowhere.

2 Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks (Raw 7/25/16)

Charlotte v Sasha Raw July 2016

The night before the July 25, 2016, edition of Raw, Sasha Banks and Bayley defeated Charlotte and Dana Brooke in a tag team match at Battleground. The Boss was searching for her first Women's Championship on the main roster, and she challenged Charlotte for the Women's  Title.

These two reminded fans of how good they are when they mix it up in the ring together. This was an instant classic, and Sasha executed a suicide dive, and she looked like she landed awkwardly, but she was completely fine. This was Sasha's crowning moment as Charlotte submitted to The Bank Statement with The Boss receiving a huge pop from the fans in attendance.

1 Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks Vs. Becky Lynch (WrestleMania 32)

Mania 32

Women in WWE were known as "Divas" but women were finally disassociated with that derogative tag in 2015 when they were recognized as Superstars. WWE Hall of Famer Lita unveiled the new WWE Women's Championship, which retired Charlotte's Divas Title in the process. At WrestleMania 32, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks collided in a competitive Women's Championship triple threat match.

This was the match of the night and was good enough to main-event the show as it was better than the poor WWE Championship match. All three showed their athleticism, and this titular bout captivated audiences. Nevertheless, Charlotte became the inaugural WWE Women's Champion as Becky tapped out to the Figure Eight with Sasha unable to break it up as Ric restrained her.
