The Rock Reveals What He Told Cody Rhodes On WWE Smackdown
The Road to WrestleMania 40 is really starting to heat up, with The Rock doing everything in his power to make this the biggest WWE event of all time. The Great One recently posted a 21-minute video on social media, providing an update of sorts of everything that has happened in WWE since his epic return. He brought up Cody Rhodes (and his Crybabies), before offering an in-depth explanation of what should have led to The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 - including his words to Cody in that infamous SmackDown segment that turned fans against The Rock.
The Rock Sets The Record Straight
In the clip, The Rock confirms a few things WWE fans had always assumed. "The Head Of The Table" moniker that Roman Reigns has been using since his epic turn as The Tribal Chief was indeed meant for a future showdown with The Rock, to decide who really was *the* head of the Anoa'i family, and WWE in general.
It was all set up and ready to go, with The Rock's RAW appearance on January 1st meant to tease the epic matchup for WrestleMania 40. And then, Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble, and chose to finish his story against Roman Reigns.
How The Rock Changed Creative Plans For WrestleMania 40, Explained
Whether you love or hate him, The Rock threw a huge wrench into WrestleMania plans before and after the Royal Rumble event.That didn't work for The Rock, who mentioned how he spoke to Cody before that polarizing SmackDown promo, telling him that he needed to do what's best for business and allow the biggest WrestleMania main event of all time to happen. Cody supposedly agreed, stepping aside and opening the door for The Rock to challenge his cousin.
Cody introduced The Rock on the February 2nd episode of SmackDown in Alabama. The two hugged, and The Rock revealed what he said to him in his ear:

The Rock carried on in his social media promo, stating how Cody eventually changed his mind about the whole situation, leading to the slap heard around the wrestling world at the WrestleMania 40 press conference in Las Vegas.

He even went after Seth Rollins in his promo, possibly dropping a hint that the rumored all-star tag team match might indeed happen.
While he was clearly working as a heel, The Rock was very convincing and added a few interesting layers to an already great storyline. WWE fans should tune in on SmackDown tonight, where The Rock is set to make an appearance.
