Top WWE Superstar Says It's His "Destiny" To Dethrone Roman Reigns As Champion

Nobody has been able to cleanly defeat the heel version of Roman Reigns, who's getting relatively close to the two-year mark as the Universal Champion.

The longest-reigning Universal Champion in WWE history (660 days and counting) hasn't been pinned in two and a half years. Up next, he will defend both his title and impressive winning streak against Brock Lesnar at the July 30 SummerSlam pay-per-view in a Last Man Standing showdown. If Lesnar is unable to take down Reigns? There's another veteran main event WWE star who believes that it's his "destiny" to conquer the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

That man would be Seth Rollins, who probably knows Reigns better than any other active WWE superstar. The two men spent several years together working as The Shield, and they feuded several times through 2015 and 2016.

"Do you remember the first time I cashed in the Money in the Bank contract? Heist of the century baby," Rollins said on this week's edition of RAW Talk (h/t Sportskeeda Wrestling). "No one can hang with me, it is my destiny to reclaim that contract and cash in on Roman Reigns. Roman's been dodging, been ducking, been running, been hiding but he doesn't stand a chance when I get that contract. You can't run from me because I am The Visionary, Revolutionary, and Seth Freakin' Rollins baby."

Rollins won the 2014 men's Money in the Bank ladder match, and he enjoyed a successful cash-in at the main event of WrestleMania 31 less than a year later. At "The Show of Shows", The Architect defeated Reigns and Lesnar to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Seth Rollins Vs Roman Reigns Cropped

The Visionary is one of four superstars to have qualified for the upcoming men's Money in the Bank ladder match, along with Omos, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. On this week's episode of WWE SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn will square off to decide the fifth entry.

Seth Rollins Would Be A Great Choice To Defeat Roman Reigns

It feels like it will be a long time until Reigns a) drops the championship and b) loses cleanly. Lesnar is certainly a logical candidate to defeat The Tribal Chief, but if WWE books Reigns to win that match? Rollins is one of the few realistic candidates that is actually well-suited to defeat Reigns. If WWE wants to "protect" The Tribal Chief, they could always have Rollins cash in during one of Reigns' title defenses and have The Architect pin the other opponent.
