Triple H Messaged Cody Rhodes When He Won The ROH Title

The majority of the wrestling world was over the moon for Cody Rhodes when he won the ROH Title, but he didn't expect a text from this man.

When Cody Rhodes left WWE two years ago, one of the first things he did was put together a list of dream opponents he wanted to face. He has wrestled every single competitor on that list since, aside from Roderick Strong due to him signing for NXT. Rhodes has done so much more than wrestle a handful of dream opponents though, he has gone on to become one of the hottest commodities on the indie scene.

If you had asked Cody two years ago whether he thought he would achieve what he has, even though he is extremely confident he would have likely told you no. He has been a World Champion, is the leader of the Bullet Club (sort of), and in September he and The Young Bucks will run their very own, 10,000 seater independent show, All In. Life is good for The American Nightmare.

Of all the things he has achieved so far, the ROH World Title win must have been the first real sign that he had truly made it. A lot of people will have congratulated Rhodes on his title win, but on the latest edition of E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness, he revealed who he received a rather unexpected text from following his landmark win. Triple H.

"The coolest feeling in the world is to have text messages from people in our industry who don't have to text you," Rhodes told Edge and Christian, "somebody like Triple H telling me, 'congrats for winning the Ring Of Honor title.' it makes what we do real." A small but meaningful gesture from The Game, and yet more proof that when Vince McMahon can no longer run WWE, the company will be in very good hands.

The main reason Rhodes left WWE was that he wanted to leave behind his Stardust gimmick. He had told Triple H that he wanted to switch things up and because he and Mr. McMahon didn't act quick enough, Rhodes left. To see that man win one of the most prestigious championships outside of WWE and then congratulate him for it, Triple H didn't need to do that but the fact that he did speaks volumes.
