Why Bryan Danielson Needs To Beat MJF At AEW Revolution 2023 (& Why MJF Should Retain His Championship)

AEW's first PPV of the year is just around the corner and the Revolution event is going to be headlined by an AEW World Championship match between MJF and Bryan Danielson. However, this won't be any old match between the two men as it is going to be a 60-minute Iron Man encounter which should lead to a lot of twists and turns.

Both men have done a brilliant job building up the encounter through matches, physical altercations, and promos, and it has got fans interested in the encounter. Each of them could benefit from walking away with the gold in this one, and here are some clear reasons why each one should do so.

Because AEW doesn't have tons of PPVs in a year, MJF hasn't actually defended his title at a major event such as Revolution. With this being the first time he has done so he must be able to win it so that he can showcase what type of wrestler he is.

If AEW wants this particular title reign to be remembered MJF must be given the win here, as this is a major storyline that fans will remember and can hang their hat on.

9 Bryan Danielson: Getting Revenge

This entire storyline stems from MJF putting William Regal in the hospital, with Bryan Danielson wanting revenge for his mentor. While Regal no longer works for the company, that period is still something that has to be acknowledged as it is the crux of the issue.

That is one of the reasons the American Dragon should win here because fans want to see him complete his mission. People want him to get revenge, and not giving the audience that could lead to frustration.

8 MJF: Focus On The Future

Bryan Danielson is a huge star and someone who has established himself over the years in the wrestling business, but it is no secret that he is coming toward the end of his career. He is wanting to focus on family and life after wrestling, therefore he is not going to be the future of the company.

On the other hand, MJF is someone who could be with AEW for the next decade, therefore giving him major wins to establish him as a talent would be more beneficial to the company in the long run.

7 Bryan Danielson: Unpredictable

When it comes to AEW's World Championship the company has tended to give wrestlers quite lengthy runs outside of CM Punk's, but even they were only short due to injury. With that in mind, most fans are heading into this PPV with the expectation that MJF will retain the title.

Setting a precedent for the title runs can be a negative decision as it leads to them becoming predictable, which isn't a good thing. Therefore having Bryan Danielson win purely for the shock value wouldn't be the worst decision Tony Khan could make.

6 MJF: Help The Title

The AEW World Championship has been booked brilliantly by Tony Khan which is why it is seen in such a prestigious light. However, the controversy surrounding CM Punk and the title certainly hurt it, and AEW has been working hard to recover it to its former glory since then.

Giving MJF a lengthy run with the gold would be an effective way of ensuring that happens, which is why it wouldn't be a big shock to see him win here to continue helping the title moving forward.

5 Bryan Danielson: MJF's Act Is Tired

MJF grew himself to the top of AEW's card through great work, but the problem is that everything he has done is starting to feel repetitive. Seeing him come out, screaming at fans, and teasing that he will leave only works for so long, and the online discourse surrounding him has started to become negative.

Considering how long it will be before the next big PPV, it might not be the worst idea to take the title from MJF here. It would allow MJF to reset and shake things up while not impacting the main event scene in a negative manner.

4 MJF: Prove His In-Ring Ability

MJF is one of the best talkers in the business right now, but that is something that people are aware of. AEW taps into that by having him cut promos in nearly all of his televised appearances, but that is starting to hurt him as fans want to see him wrestle and aren't sure of his ability in-ring.

Winning an iron-man match against one of the best wrestlers on the planet would certainly help dispel those myths. MJF is a talented wrestler, and winning a match like this would go a long way to proving that.

3 Bryan Danielson: He's The Best Wrestler In The World

While a win for MJF would allow him to showcase what he can do inside the ring, it would also lead to some confusion regarding Bryan Danielson. The American Dragon is often pushed as the greatest wrestler in the world and arguably the best of all time from a bell-to-bell perspective, which is why he should win.

The stipulation here is something that massively favors him as a talent, and on paper, that should lead to him picking up a victory. Having him lose would lead to question marks over that aspect of Danielson, which isn't something that AEW would want.

2 MJF: Establishing Him As A Top Star

The main reason that MJF needs to win this match is simply to establish him as a top star in the company. While he is obviously one of the biggest talents in AEW, having him win a major encounter like this would put him on another level as a performer, which he needs.

Anyone that still has question marks over MJF's ability to carry the company would be silenced if he could win this match, and it would prove that he is one of the biggest names in the business, which is something that would benefit the company as well.

1 Bryan Danielson: Getting The Most Out Of Him

Signing Bryan Danielson was a major coup for AEW considering the fact he is one of the biggest names of his generation. However, it can be argued that the company hasn't quite got the most out of him to this point, as Danielson was put on the back burner for CM Punk to be pushed toward the title instead.

Danielson is someone that can bring in fans from WWE due to how recognizable he is, and making him the AEW World Champion would only push that further. He can carry great storylines and that would help the product as well, allowing AEW to truly make the most out of him as a performer.
