WWE Announces New Mobile Wrestling Game For Android & iOS
WWE has announced the launching of a new mobile game, downloadable for free on Android and iOS devices, called WWE Universe.
The title, described as "the most anticipated mobile game in sports-entertainment", will present fans with over 240 superstars and WWE legends with which to battle it out in campaigns or multiplayer modes.
Players will be able to execute strikes, grapples and various signature moves via one-tap controls, while they'll be treated to arena-like sound effects as they stake their claim for dominance.

"In WWE Universe, players will select from a roster of over 240 Superstars and WWE Legends to wage battles that mix ongoing storylines and live action multiplayer modes," WWE says in the announcement. "Using simple, one-touch tap controls, players can execute the Superstars’ signature moves and authentic maneuvers that are recreated in over 700 unique in-ring animations. The in-game action takes place in a virtual WWE Universe filled with boisterous chants, music and more.
"Those who lead their Superstar teams to victory in daily, weekly or special events will earn exclusive in-game rewards and worldwide acclaim from the WWE Universe leaderboard tracking the achievements."
This game comes about as part of a collaboration with Glu Mobile, a US-based publisher and developer of mobile games.
“WWE Universe is the culmination of Glu and WWE’s shared goal of delivering best-in-class mobile entertainment for players around the world,” Glu President and Chief Executive Officer Nick Earl says. “Developed by an incredibly talented team of WWE enthusiasts, the game delivers on authenticity and features gameplay elements that create an immersive in-ring experience players will enjoy.”
As simple as the one-tap control might seem, it appears that this game is all about timing and badly timed moves or finishers could work against you. Of course, there are microtransactions too and they're said to range from $0.99 and $99.99.
This does appear to be a fun wrestling game, so why not give it a try if you're a WWE fan? After all, it's free (if you steer clear of in-game purchases). The fact that you can play against your friends is also pretty cool, so head over to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and check it out.
